JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) was founded in the year 2008 on the principles of pursuing and nurturing research oriented higher education for the benefit of the society with a motto for education for all. One of the unique PG programs offered at School of Life Sciences, Mysuru, is MSc Cosmetic Science.

JSS AHER is the first institute in the south India to offer an MSc course in Cosmetic Science and integrating cosmetic science with technology – the use of AI in cosmetic formulation made & driven for Indian skin, highlighting a focus on R&D in India for customized Indian made for Indian people.

  • Master’s in Cosmetic Science is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the principles and practices involved in the development and production of safe and effective cosmetic products. The curriculum covers all the aspects of cosmetic formulation, product development, raw materials, speciality ingredients, regulatory compliance and analytical techniques in testing of raw materials and finished products. The students get hands on experience on product development in the laboratories and the course offers an amalgamation between latest technology and the cosmetic industry.

Indian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ISCC)

Indian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ISCC) is a non-profit organization established in 2002 under the affiliation of International Federation of Society of Cosmetic chemists (IFSCC). ISCC was founded with a view to promote research and knowledge of the Cosmetic Sciences and Personal Care in India. ISCC members are drawn from academics, R&D, consultancy, publications, manufacturers, and packaging & raw materials suppliers across India.

The Society organizes regular seminars, supports international scientific events, and publishes a newsletter the ISCC Update. ISCC was awarded the prestigious Lester Concord Education Prize (2009) instituted by the IFSCC. ISCC is actively helping in fostering the exchange and disposal of knowledge and information in relevant fields among Professionals and, also furnishing advice to government, law makers and important agencies related to the field. The association has a membership base of about 300 with its head office in Mumbai and Zonal Office in Nagpur New Delhi & Bangalore. ISCC is working with several national and international organization with similar goals. ISCC is working towards promoting the research activities in the field of cosmetics by arranging Annual Conferences for the students and professionals.

The association conducts workshops and training programme in different areas of cosmetics with the aim of providing latest technologies to its member with the aim of increasing their professional competence.

The key objectives of the ISCC includes:

  • To promote the cause of science & technology in the development of the Cosmetics & Toiletries industry, including producers of related raw materials such as oleo chemicals, surfactants, silicones, waxes, fragrances and allied products.
  • To encourage research, development and training in the above areas.
  • To encourage research, development and training in the above areas.
  • To encourage technology development of upstream equipment and machinery that can impact the chemical and formulation processes involved in the manufacture of Cosmetics.
  • To guide and assist in the formulation of standards, specifications and laws pertaining to raw materials and finished products.
  • To promote the competence and integrity of those engaged in these fields of activity and to raise their professional status.
  • To foster the exchange and disposal of knowledge and information in relevant fields among professionals and the public, and to furnish advice to Government, law makers and important agencies on matters concerning the ISCC's fields of activity.
  • To print publish and circulate journals, periodicals, books, papers, reports and other technical and/or economic literature related to the ISCC's fields of activity.
  • To establish, maintain and/or support Libraries, archives, Research and Testing Laboratories and Training Centres.
  • To foster an active liaison with national as well as international organization having objects and activities like those of the ISCC.
